Description

Honey tangerines and Shogun tangerines are the same type of tangerine, just grown in different regions. Shogun tangerines are commonly grown in the Yala area, while honey tangerines are prevalent in the northern region, especially around Chiang Mai and nearby areas.

Honey tangerines are a variety of sweet green tangerines that are popular among consumers due to their sweet taste and soft, juicy segments. They are available year-round because they can be grown out of season.

In general, the external appearance of honey tangerines is not much different from other green tangerine varieties in terms of shape and size. They are typically round in shape, slightly flattened, and have a small depression at the stem end. The base of the fruit is round, and the skin is smooth, easy to peel, and not thick compared to the flesh. The segments can be easily separated from each other, much like regular green tangerines. However, one distinctive feature is that the peel of honey tangerines is thinner. When peeled, the tangerine segments have a darker color, and the flesh is dense, with a high juice content, making the fruit heavier than other varieties and yielding a high production.

Honey tangerines that are grown in the winter season have yellowish skin, while in other seasons, the skin remains green.
