Description

Originally known as “์Na-Sarn Rambutan” the cultivation of this type of rambutan, called “Ngor Rong Rean,” originated in the Na-sarn district of Surat Thani province, Thailand. It is characterized by its thin skin, crisp and sweet flesh, and a delightful aroma. The flesh of this variety tends to be firmer than the Golden Rambutan.

In Southern Thailand, the rambutan variety typically bears fruit towards the end of the rainy season, from August to October. In contrast, rambutan varieties in the eastern part of the country usually produce fruit from April to July.

Rambutans that bear fruit outside of these typical seasons are referred to as “out-of-season” rambutans. They tend to be smaller in size compared to the in-season rambutans and are often priced higher due to their scarcity.
